I day trade a lot. Watch charts, watch charts and watch them some more. Watch the chart. When you feel you would like to buy print out the chart and get away from the computer. Write yourself a note why you bought there. Write down what would prompt you to sell. Go back a couple of hours later see how you would have done. Keep your "buys" in a folder. As you get better start looking at the put call ratio and the VXN or the VIX.
Calculate your gains and losses. When your hit ratio is over 75% and you have proven you can make money try it for real. Welcome to the big show.
I also recommend two books the URLs are below Against the Gods and Jesse Livermore: World's Greatest Stock Trader.

I bought a book called 'a beginner's guide to day trading online' by Toni Turner. It will show you how to read finacial charts, statements and interpret market trends. And then you do paper trading ( practice trading) to see how well you understand before you actually do trade. I started two years ago with just $1300 and am now approaching the $50,000 mark.

Good luck!!

Brains and $25,000 to start and blow.

Geeeyaaa
1) Do research before you buy a stock.
a) Look at graphs
b) Look at the latest news on the stock
c) Check when the company is going to give earnings results.

YOU MUST HAVE $ 25,000 IN YOUR BROKERAGE ACCOUNT TO BE ABLE TO DAY TRADE. If you do not maintain $ 25k in your account you will be limited to a 3 day grace period per trade.

2) Practice by paper trading ( grab paper and note down stocks you want to buy and how many shares)

3) Observe your stock during pre market and after market activities.

4) Read latest news, blogs, analyst reviews about your stock by visiting stock market websites.

I suggest looking at these sites:

Dow Jones: http://www.marketwatch.com
CNN money: http://www.money.com
Google Finance: http://google.finance.com/finance
