An index fund. All stocks at the same time. I'd convert the money to euros and buy a euro-denominated global fund overseas. Far from IRS, US courts, falling dollar, etc. |

Hello,
I also had a similair problem as you have.
I had a good amount of money, and wanted it to grow.
So I looked around on the internet to find something that is:
1) giving me great returns towards a relatively small risk
2) Professional people who know what they where doing with my money.

check out the book ' five lessons learned from a millionaire' by evans, now i might be a word or two off on the title but i skimmed the book in the bookstore the other day and it was awesome, very readable with good common simple sense that made getting ahead sound very simple and basic if you follow a few rules.
as for investing check out prosper.com. it is a lending place kind of on the order of yahoo answers where people support people a little more personally. i dont know the details but it is worth checking out! all the best to you!
oh, and whatever you do, don't go for a restaurant, it is too much work for little return! |

Invest in ETF: ETFs are cheaper than mutual funds. ETFs have very low annual expenses, nearly 20 basis points or 0.2% less. As against this, actively managed mutual funds show average expenses exceeding 135 basis points (1.35%). This does not include the extra 2% - 5% as loads, 12(b)-1 marketing fees, transactions costs, and soft dollar expenses mutual funds, passed on to you but never informed, except in very fine print that nobody cares to read.
