Honestly, one of the best things to do with your money is to invest it in high-interest CD or Certificate of Deposit accounts. Almost all banks have them. With your $1000 you could put it into a CD account for 5 years and end up with like $1600 or something close depending on the interest rate. Then each time your CD is up, you just put the money back into one. The more money you have and the longer the length of your CD's the higher the interest rates will be. This is a good way to have money for retirement, since it will never really be around to spend on reckless things, and you really don't have to do anything to turn a good profit. Look into it. |

Because the stock market is low right now, this is the best time to invest. Instead of buying specific stocks you can find mutual funds. These funds invest in many different stocks. |

Zopa.com have recently launched in the US. It's a lending and borrowing exchange which allows you to give loans to individuals, cutting out the banks and middle men and letting you keep the interest. I've been using it in the UK for a while now, and am getting very good rates of interest. (7%-11%, compared to 5%-6.5% in a savings account.)
In the UK, if you apply via the link below, you get £30 when you lend out more than £500. If you follow the link in the US, it should redirect you to the US site, and hopefully there'll be a similar offer.

Try investing in the developing markets....China and India are both correcting with global markets and ....its pick up time.
Over the last 50 years Stocks have provided the best returns over other investments; however, recall the enron debacle. You have more control in Real Estate. |
