What Are Good Stocks to Invest in Now?
We're interested in investing some money in the stock market while the stocks are down, in the hopes that eventually they will go back up. Any ideas about what would be good to invest in?

This is a great time to invest. Don't listen to what anybody says. Even if you do take short term losses, they will most likely be minimal. The main thing is make sure you diversify. The Shwab Target 2030 is a great mutual fund for only $100.

Um... try AIG, Lehman Bros, Washington Mutual, GM, Chrysler. Yep... try those.

I don't think it's a good time to invest. Supposedly we are going to experience major deflation, and it seems like the best thing to invest in is treasury bills. You want the safest cash equivalence you can find. Swiss money market claims. Retain your purchasing power.

I think the market is going to crash hard next year. Not a good place to put cash for the long term. Next year you are going to witness a lot of baby boomers lose a lot of money.

The bottom of the market will be tested in the next 1 to 2 months. So I would suggest you to wait a little bit more before you dive in. If you buy 2 months later I suggest that you buy an index (ETF) and not a single stock (that's too risky).

Also, I would not recommend you to buy bonds right now since they're too expensive (FED said it will buy bonds).

If you have to do something RIGHT NOW I would suggest to put your money in: consumer staple stocks (WMT), bank CDs, savings account at your local bank, or just plain old cash. Stay away from major retailers, real estate, financial and energy companies.

And finally, do not make investing decisions based on tips alone... that is recipe for disaster.

Try outsourcing stocks like CTSH..

US treasury are printing truck loads of money everyday, so I would not keep my money in cash, or treasury bills for that matter.. Prepare for a massive inflation.

Agricultural commodity stocks are way down and seem very cheap, so check out MOS and POT --the world population is increasing and people in india and china demand more protein, so the world needs more fertilizer

Silver mining sector are the hardest hit, they will spring back soon: PAAS, CDE, HL

All the commodities will be gaining value over the dollar so you can invest in big and diverse metal commodity names like RIO, BHP, RTP

Oh that's easy! Just work out who's going to survive the nightmare on Wall Street, what's going to boom and who is massively under-priced at the moment!

But seriously, anyone who knows the REAL answer to that question isn't going tell you. Anyone who tells you DOESN'T KNOW!!!!
