if you looking for guaranteed returns, go for risk-free assets like treasury bills or savings account...
going to the stock market is not guaranteeing you anything. there's an element of risk to it because the stock prices reflect future cash flow associated with that company...
and we all know that no one can predict the future |

there are no guarantees, but nucor (NUE) should be a winner over the next year or two
it's projected to go over 80 bucks a share during that time
in september 2007 it was 58 bucks - and just as recently as a few weeks ago it was 52 bucks, but now it's climbing near 70 bucks a share |

The reason why there is a difference in returns for certain investments is due to the different level in risk (or perceived risk).
There is no stock that is guaranteed to make money for you. You can manage your risk and make sure you are diversified to diversify away firm specific risk, but there is still risk that cannot be diversified away and that will be a part of every stock portfolio.
In any type of investment there is risk, thus you need to better define almost guaranteed, and also define what your investment return, objectives, and time horizon are to get a better answer to your question. |

You can try investing in Canadian Oil Sands. Google 'Canadian Oil Sands' and go to their website and do some research. I would also recommend consulting with a broker as well. Good luck :) |

Years ago when people first started day-trading at home on their computers it was advised that people shouldn't do it unless they can afford to lose $50,000. The same general rule applies to buying stocks and holding them. If you can afford to lose the money (meaning you DON'T borrow it to buy the stock) and you want to take a chance then go ahead. But if you've only got a few hundred or a few thousand dollars to play with you are better off keeping the money in your bank. If you don't know anything about playing the stock market you'll be throwing your money away and the sharks will eat you alive. |
