SoulMate | What Would Be The Best Investments If Iran Flooded The World Market With Cheap Oil? |
And if they did it in Euros?
The Energy Non-Crisis
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3340274697167011147 Additional Details Great answers so far in a normal world, but
the question was directed towards the content of the video link "The Energy Non-Crisis." Assuming what is said in the video is true, what would be the best investments? |

And why would they do this? Flooding the market would drive the price of oil down and help the US and the rest of the world for that matter. I don't think Iran wants to do anything beneficial to the US. If this did happen, I'd go cautiously with airline stocks. |

I'd invest in assets like shipping companies, cause market activity should pick up especially exports if the dollar remains weak at the time, for a quick profit....I'd make an intra day investment in the SP500 or Russell 2000......and of course short oil and some commodities, like gold. Then again you can always invest directly in the Euro Money Market. Just depends on what your interested in |

In the US, master limited partnerships - they control pipelines, so they make more money the more oil and natural gas they transport. Plus they must pay out 90% to shareholders. They're making great returns now, and would make even more money if they had more oil to transport.

Great Question.
Some decent answers here.
Personally I would look at the refiners.
There are only so many of them out there and recently they have been beaten to a pulp. They make money on the "crack spread". That is the spread that they make on the refined product (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel) after that they pay for the barrel of oil.
Cheaper oil with flat to up gasoline equals solid profits.
Some U.S. refiners (not integrateds like RDSA XOM or BP)
are: SUN VLO FTO MRO is heavy into refining but they have upstream business as well (producing oil as well)
Make a killing! |
