Adam, In India we follow the T+3 settlement format. SEBI is also considering T+2. Which means only after 3 days of your transaction you can sell. This is for the traditional share buying/selling.
There are a whole bunch of other products like intra day, Buy today sell tomorrow etc which you can use for shorter trading durations.
Cheers,
Anand
mail me at anandvijayakumar@ymail.com if you need any more details. |

Investments per se, imply a longer term exposure in contrast to trading. Short terms trades can be defined on one's own terms, I can define upto 7days as Short term or 30 days = Short term, per a persons convenience or trading frequency,However in the tax point of view if you sell-stocks with 1years time, you are liable to STCG, Investments held beyond 1year are taxed at different rates.Naked shorts traded on a intra-day basis should be closed within the trade day, else if you hold stocks you can short them when ever you see an profit opportunity.<Kapital.Ideas@gmail.com> |

If you are going through a website, I am assuming you are not naked short-selling the stocks. If you are not naked short-selling the stocks, then you will be allowed to short-sell any stock at any time and price. |

if you are looking for serious stock marketing i suggest you join a depository first.
Its my personal opinion that you should buy stocks and shares of companies like : DLF or reliance for long term benefits
i would also suggest you go for Infosys and other IT companies' too. |
