Disadvantage...it doesn't warn you where it's headed.
Advantage...it doesn't warn anybody else either.

Main advantage is that it provides a way for businesses to raise money.

If you have a business worth $1,000,000 and is short on cash for operating, then it "goes public" and sells stock for the value of the company, then that's another $1,000,000 in cash in its hands.

This is sort of like a multiplier for businesses.

For individuals, it allows you to own a piece of a business without being legally liable. Also allows individuals an opportunity for better returns on their money than other sources (i.e., banks) might offer.

Quite simple
Advantage:Make money if u pick the right stocks/funds
disadvantage:Lose money if u dont
Its basically legal gambling, some of it more risky than others

in my own opinion, its the best place to make money. as opposed to most investors, i take a "day-trading" approach to the market and have seen some rather hefty returns. with the market so volatile right now, its the best opportunity to make money, because so many stocks are so low. you only have to wait a few days, if not hours, to see 2-3% returns and thats being conservative. the advantage, is that there is huge potential if you do a little bit of research and pay close attention. the disadvantage is that you can lose half, or more, of your investment in hours if you're not careful. in either case, its all about being patient and waiting for your investment to realize a return.

Advantages, You can make good money in the stock market if you do your Research.

Disadvantages, You can lose your money if you just buy the latest "hot stock" or let your emotions run wild.

Capital appreciation or capital depreciation. And a lot of headaches and pain both ways.

Are you talking about trading on the stock markets? or the advantages and disadvantages for a company to be listed in a stock market?

It sounds like you want us to do your homework for you. If you are talking about the advantages and disadvantages of trading - you win some, you lose some. Go to www.gnutrade.com and try trading the live financial markets with play money and decide for yourself.
