You become a part owner of a company in which you believe will grow and increase your wealth. You participate in a market, which historically, has returned more than anywhere else you could invest your money.
I think an even better avenue for the new investor is mutual funds or, through a broke, an Exchange Traded Fund (ETF). Now, one can even participate in the global market place through international funds and ETFs. This spreads one's risk over scores, hundreds or thousands of stocks in a fund. Reduces costs and risks.

Only investment in share can give quick returns if one invests in a right scrip at right time. If the stock is good the investor can hold it for some period if the market condition is bad. The shares can be sold on any trading day and cash can be taken out on the same day or within 2 days. It is like ready money for the investor. This kind of liquidity has been made possible by online trading linked to the bank account. This may not be possible in other investments like real estate etc., |
