Hi,
Do NOT buy stocks for the short term. Very very VERY foolish.
The stock market always has the potential to be EXTREMELY volatile. After years of remaining in boring doldrums, for the past year or so it's again become volatile -- in record extremes. It goes up and down worse than a roller coaster ride. And in recent months, the trend has been DOWN.
The market is rallying today for the election (and I don't know the results as I write), but could go lower depending on the results.
And could go MUCH lower quite fast if the new president enacts laws that harms the economy -- and those have been promised.
Short term money should go into either a money market account or a certificate of deposit that is over just before you know you'll need the money.
Interest rates are low, but thank God you're not losing money.

Today or tomorrow? What is "for a very short term" to you? Out by Friday? Short term to me is about 5 minutes.
I say put it all on RED if you are looking for a 1-2 week speculation.
You have to have an exit plan for this kind of investment, and you need to know when you are wrong. Don't do anything just because some nitwit here told you to. |

Best to invest long term. Short term to make money fast wont work unless you know what business is going to get huge soon. Right now to invest long term I would go with things that people will always need, ex: food, soap, light bulbs, ect. People always need these things so you should not lose any money, but then it will take a while to make any. |
