What stocks do you think are the best stocks to invest in? Do you think it is too risky to be investing in the stock market right now? Why or why not? |

Now is a great time to invest in the stock market. Many companies are at a 52 week low. True, stocks still may go lower, but if you invest in quality stocks, they will come back to much higher than today's lows. Some stocks to look at would be:
Coca-Cola
Pfizer-good dividend
McDonald's
I would stay away from financial stocks right now as there are two many variables that we still don't know. My personal choice which I own stock in is "Precision Drilling" (PDS). They pay a great dividend and they just bought out another drilling company.
Good Luck

Now is not a good time to be investing due to the state of the economy - as you should know.
If you must invest in stocks I would go for stable companies. Be careful and do your research.
Good Luck. |

The problem with this crazy market is the volatility. What goes up 5% today might go down 7% tomorrow. Also, consider that two of the highest one-day increases in the stock market (percentage-wise) came during the Great Depression.
If you really want to get into stocks, get into some kind of a stock fund that has diversified holdings. These funds are managed by stock market professionals whose job it is to make trades throughout the day to maximize a portfolio's value.
You can jump into the stock market now, since it's so low and it will come back up eventually. But, I'm going to wait until the beginning of the year at least to let the market stabilize before switching my 401k (which has been in the money market for the last year) back into the stock market.
If you are interested in individual stocks, consider what people will be buying, even down to their last dollar: food. And, cheap food. So, think fast food restaurants, discount grocers, and places like WalMart and Costco. Also consider that people will turn to their favorite vices - alcohol and tobacco - to relieve the tension of the times. |

Ryan you should better invest in business. I've invested in good business of my friend. He pays me 1% monthly (12 percent a year) |

Right now is the best time to invest in the stock market. The markets are low and you can buy cheap. The markets will go up, just might take a while for them too. Look for stocks that have fallen a lot lately but are normally strong (ex. Target, Exxon Mobile, Google, Apple, etc...). These stocks will eventually go back up. |

Don't know too much but I heard Apple (computers) might be something to look into. It's dropped significantly in the past few months, mostly I'd say due to the state of the economy. It will always be a power house, along with Gateways, Dell, etc. The stock is still $90 something a share, but again, it's dropped and is fairly cheap comapred to what it was 3 months ago. I say this NOT being an investor in Apple stock. Just something I overheard today. |
