Well, if your time horizon is long (>20 years), and you have the discipline to stick out the ups and downs, there are two good asset you may wish to consider: Small-cap stocks from U.S., and stocks from emerging countries. Both of these types are from companies that start off small and therefore have the most room to grow. Keep in mind, though, that small stocks and emerging country stocks also have high levels of risk (as a trade-off for the high return).
