Well If i were you i would out it in a savings account and let it grown. If you are working and they dont have a 401k plan then i would think about an IRA account. You should talk to your banker and if all else falls you can give it to me.

You can do quite a few things with that 5k, one is to invest in stocks or just put in a high interest savings account. You can give it to charity or you can go a world trip? It depends on how you want to see it grow. With stocks it takes time to grow but the risk is high and so is outcome and with a savings account, it also takes time to grow but your money is safe. Try a CD for a year.

Try managed funds. What they do, is a bunch of people put a little bit of money in, and the manager pools the money and invests in big scale things. You get the advantage of diversification (which gives you higher returns for lower risk) without having a huge start up cost. Have a look at moneymanager.com, make sure you look at the MER (Management Expense Ratio - the % of fees you can expect to pay), although this may not include all fees.

Buy solid 18kt gold jewelry-under appraised value, its timeless jewelry, (avoid retailers).
Get nice designs perhaps without stones in it. Wear it every day.
Get fantastic compliments. When you are tired of wearing
it or need some cash. Sell it! Everyone knows gold is on the rise. The difference is you get to enjoy it, see it, feel it, and hang on until you need the money. If you need the money sell it for a huge profit too!
In a few years when boom is bust, you will be called a smart investor, all the while you had fun doing it (investing).

Investing is the best thing to do. What I suggest is go into a mutual fund. Five grand is very sufficient to start investing. Put all of it into large corporations like the Dow Jones which has never lost money over a year. The worst it did was during the great depression where it only gained five points. Don't worry about points and all that, that's the accountant's business. Once you've made some money try putting a small amount of that into cmall corporations which can succeed a lot better than big companies...they have more room to grow.

Another thing to do is open a 401k account. If you're working for a company that offers a 401k investment...you just keep pouring a small percentage of your pay into that account and at one point in your future it can be a very large sum of money.

Both of those take a long time...but it's a sure plan. You can do lottery but you won't win. If you do this, you can still turn out with a few million dollars when you retire.

Go on a vacation somewhere.

goose_31deux
Give it to a charity that is concerned with educating our youth/improving our educational system (if you're wondering what to do with 5K, you probably need the tax deduction).

podgeman22
Invest it for your kids to go to college.
or if you don't have kids, and don't plan to... invest it, and in a couple of years put a downpayment on a vacation home in the Italian Alps.

Could this be a trick question? I guess it would depend on what part of the English Speaking world you reside in.

Assuming your speaking about the value of money, I would recommend you do with it as you please and makes you happy. Investment would be a wise option.

Assuming your speaking about Sawhorse or Sawbuck, leather covered frame used for gymnastic vaulting. I would recommend opening the largest Olympic Training facility in the world!!!

Assuming your speaking about the adult males of some animals, I would recommend you buy a farm and prepare for the possibility of feeding all of them or selling them for food!!

Assuming your speaking about a group of Antelope, I would recommend the same as if you had adult male animals.

Assuming your speaking about robust or high spirited young men, I would recommend you keep that to yourself, not too many individuals would enjoy your future plans.

Assuming your speaking about Native Americans or Black Men (which is offensive) I would recommend you seek counseling and a body guard. You could be assassinated.

I hope your assuming the monetary definition of Buck!!!

Goodluck ....
