Willster | What is Saskatchewan? |
Twice in the last week, I've heard business commentators say that the Canadian province of Saskatchewan will be "the next Alberta." Can anybody tell me what this means? |

Saskatchewan is one of the Canadian prairie provinces, in between Alberta and Manitoba. They could be referring to Sas being the next Alb because Alberta has grown quite wealthy, esp in the cities of Calgary and Edmonton, because of large deposits of carbon-based energy forms like oil and stuff. Maybe they've discovered oil or tar sands or coal or something in Saskatchewan. That's my educated guess, anyway. |

Oil Sands. Alberta is the Texas of Canada lots of oil companies. As oil goes up in price the places where we did not go in past become popular. Look at Siberia it is fast becoming an oil companies dream land. |

Saskatchewan has tar sands deposits from which oil can be extracted .
They can be developed soon just like Alberta and will be engine for growth
in Saskatchewan and bring wealth. |

It means that Saskatchewan will have a booming economy the way that the province of Alberta is. Alberta is rich in oil and has a hot economy. |

Basically, they are saying that Saskatchewan will be explored, developed, and drilled for potential oil...thus experiencing a high rate of overall growth like Alberta. |

Saskatchewan is a Canadian province..
What they mean my this statement is that Saskatchewan is having great economic growth. Possibly in the Oil refinery business. Don't live there so don't know what is going on at the moment. |
