Equity is when something is worth more than you paid. You buy a house for $100,000 and sell it for $150,000. The equity is $50,000. Sweat equity is when you put extra time and effort into something for a result instead of money. |

"Sweat Equity" is the amount of increase in value of your real estate as a result of your own labor.
For example, if you buy a house for $100,000, and you build a garage that costs you $2,000 in materials, but increases the value of your property by $10,000, so the value of your property becomes $110,000, you have gained $8,000 in sweat equity. |

It's a play on words. The difference between the value of your house and what you owe on the mortgage is called the "Equity". If you owe $200,000 and the house is worth $300,000, then you have $100,000 of equity.
"Sweat Equity" is a slang term for the amount of work you put into a project, typically a house. This generally refers to work that will increase the value of your home.
For example, my wife and I are remodeling our kitchen ourselves instead of paying contractors to do the work for us. The manual labor, the sweat we put into the project, is the "sweat equity." The remodeled kitchen will raise the value of our home, and as a result, we will have more real equity as a result of the "Sweat Equity" we put into the renovation. |

The equity that is created in a company or some other asset as a direct result of hard work by the owner(s).
For example, the work you might put into rebuilding the engine on your 1968 Mustang to increase its value would be considered sweat equity. |

"Sweat equity" is doing work on your home yourself in order to increase the home's value. For example, if you put new flooring into the home, or if you improve the kitchen cabinets, you will add value.
The equity you gain is larger because you are doing the work yourself instead of paying someone to do it for you. |

It is the actual work you do yourself in updating or refurbinsh a house, condo etc...It's the time and effort contributed by you. |

Doing the work yourself. You working and causing yourself to sweat. That would add equity to your home or project. |
|

a heart so big
 |
it means earning equity in your home (increasing it's value) by making improvements, like adding a pool, new flooring, landscaping, etc. |
