What is a bullish-bearish market?

Sue_C
At the bank where I work, the traders have a saying that
- a bullish market, is when everybody makes money and everybody thinks they are geniuses
- a bearish market, is when everybody looses money except for the geniuses

A bull market is when the brokers throw you bull and you buy stock causing prices to rise.
A bear market is when your bought the bull, own the stocks and prices drop ( that's when the Bear eats you).

A bullish-bearish market is the best kind there is. That's when stocks are mainly going up, but there is a lot of anxiety and fear, with some down days. A bull market climbs a wall of worry as they say.

When everybody is bullish, with no bears, then watch out! Stocks are due for a crash or at least a "correction."

On the other hand, when everybody is bearish, then it's time to go stock shopping!!

Warren Buffett said "Be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful."

Gabi ng Lagim
I've never heard of the term. I am hard pressed to believe the market can be both in a trading day.

Bullis means more buying than selling, and bearish means more selling than buying

Angie
Bull means the stock market indexes are going up. Bear means that the indexes are going down.

Califrich
Basically, a bull market is a market in which prices are rising, and a bear market is one in which prices are falling. This is because of the way those animals would fight -- a bull would toss you up with his horns, while a bear would drag you down with his claws. You have phrased your question to ask what a "bullish-bearish" market would be. I would guess this would be a market in which the bulls and bears cancel each other out and prices would remain unchanged.
