Daytrading is buying and selling stocks shortly after purchasing them.
It is very risky, and any gains are taxed at a higher tax rate, the short term capital gains rate.
It is supposed to work like this, buy a stock, wait for it to go up, and then sell within a month or so, reap the profit, and it is so much you don't care about the higher tax rates.
More often, it is buy a stock, panic when it drops, sell it and lose money.
80% of all daytraders lose money.
Be CAREFUL. |

You basically watch the stock market all day long, buy and sell multiple times throughout the da, trying to buy it low and selling it high and then rebuying it when it drops back down, etc. Very dangerous, and hard to do. Studies have shown day traders do worse in the long run than buying stocks and holding onto them for longer terms. Plus you have to pay commission or fees every time you buy and sell, and taxes on your capital gains are higher for stocks held for less than a year. |

If you are working toward financial freedom, you will want to stay away from day trading.
You have a better shot at going to the casino and betting on sporting event.
our first option should be to fund fully a retirement account. If you do this, and you have extra cash, then one of the best things you can do is open a DRIP Plan.
Go to : low-cost-stock-recommendations
.com
They have a DRIP Section and it is free.
These powerful investment plans are seldom talked about because brokers make very little money when they suggest them. Yet, they have proven to be one of the best, if not the best, long-term strategy on Wall Street.
They are perfect for small investors, as well as big investors. They are safe and allow you to not care about whether the market is going up or down. They are a must for any serious investor.
I strongly recommend looking into it. They are great plans. |

You open an account with a stock broker with a minimum of $25,000 and start trading stocks. If you don't know what you are doing you will quickly lose a lot of money. If you know what you are doing you will make money, but you will work hard at it, and by the end of each day you will be a nervous wreck. Good luck. There are people that give day trading courses. I know one who charges $20,000 to train you. He is a very successful day trader. However, he works with a much larger base of capital--about $1 million. |

Day Trading is when you buy or short stocks and sell ( or buy in the case or shorting) in the span of a day or less. George Brown is probably the best broker for such an endeavor as he is the cheapest. You will need to start out with at least 15 to 20K. You will need to get up at about 4:30 every trading day so you can find out what is happening on the east coast and abroad so you can make educated guesses as to what will happen that day. You need to stock up on maalox as this will be your breakfast for the first 30 days or so. I did this for 7 years during the "dotcom wars" in the late 1990's it was very profitable for many of us. Above all you need to know the market inside and out, especially the Nasdaq, as she is the most volatile. Your day starts at 4:30 am and ends at 5:00pm. If you have a strong stomach and heart and lots of money your willing to lose it is a gas. If you would like more info you can email me. |

Well day-trading will lead you to a different kind of freedom. More like the kind of freedom vagrants have.... Lose all your money in a short period of time by speculating on volatile markets. Good luck and have fun.... |

maybe you should learn to swing trade rather than going into day trading first.
basically buy stocks at a low price...and then hold it for a day or two and sell it when it goes up.
but the key thing is knowing at wht price a stock shows resistance and what the bottom is before it goes up..
for example i noticed it with wfr recently...whenever it hits 69 it usually shoots up to 72+ either the same day or hte next day.
so you should try to pick maybe 5 stocks that you would like to work with and analyze them and see wht price does it have to hit for it to come back up and since this is a bear market and a highly volatile market this will happen alot....a different strategy would have been used a couple of years ago. |

Beginner Day Trading is where amature investors think they can make a lot of money in the stock market with no experience.
Cite: .com Crash of 2000-2002
With that said:
"Day traders rapidly buy and sell stocks throughout the day in the hope that their stocks will continue climbing or falling in value for the seconds to minutes they own the stock, allowing them to lock in quick profits. Day trading is extremely risky and can result in substantial financial losses in a very short period of time. If you are a day trader, or are thinking about day trading, read our publication, Day Trading: Your Dollars at Risk. We also have warnings and tips about online trading and day trading.
Under the rules of NYSE and NASD, customers who are deemed "pattern day traders" must have at least $25,000 in their accounts and can only trade in margin accounts. For more information, you can read the NASD's Notice to Members and the New York Stock Exchange's Information Memo."

I spent years studying and charting the markets every day before I began investing. I was a trader before the term "day trader" was even coined.
I have been in the industry 19 years (see my bio), and I can tell you that you are embarking on a very risky game, especially now trading in a bear market such as this one.
You are trading against professionals who have a lot more money to move markets, and have a lot better information and sophisticated trading programs than you will be able to access.
True info is better today that the 1980's and 1990's, but you can have all the information but if you don't understand market history and how markets work, including market psychology, fundamental and technical analysis to a reasonable degree, the markets will move against you over time. In this market, it won't take much time before you get whacked - unless you are perhaps a short seller or put buyer.
Good Luck!
PPS Forget all these day trading websites and schools. They charge lots of money, and get you hyped into thinking you can't fail. Reality is most of these people get their portfolio 'blown up.' And the only people making money is the "schools."
If they are so smart, get them to show you their tax returns on all their hot trades. Otherwise forget it. |

If you have to ask, then it's best that you don't go into it. You could lose your money very quickly. |
