As our ability to intervene in the market instantly increased, the volatility increased with it.
As expecations increased, volatility increased, predictability of movements decreased.
As ETF's and INDEX funds increased, cross currents and abritrage between them increased, churning up the markets even more.
Trading programs and online trading combined with all this above increase the frenetic and sometimes schizophrenic market behaviors.
Systems that used to work, are rendered more and impotent as more and more trading units use them.
Net effect is to create a confused and foggy view of what real trends are.
Find a way to discern these trends and a way to act upon them and wisely keep your own counsel. As we all retreat to this tactic, markets may become more orderly, LOL, MAYBE, LOL |

To best understand what the market is doing overall, you simply must observe the major indexes, Dow Jones, etc.... The market will generally trend in three directions up, down or sideways for any given time period. This is a game of observation. |

It is my personal belief that individual investors are scared. Oil, gas and gold prices are going up, people aren't spending as much and they are putting their money in savings accounts instead of investing in stocks.
I also think people are taking smaller profits and not letting the market run. It seems like every time the market goes up for a couple days everybody starts selling.
