What is going to happen with my Circuit City stock now that they've filed Ch.11?

Net Advisor
It will be delisted and eventually go to zero.

Just posted this here:

Circuit City just went bankrupt. Stock has fallen to 11 cents a share. Will Circuit City recover?

Can I buy stock in a company that has filed chapter 11?

it has dropped to the bottom and depending on what your cost were you may want to hold and see if they can come out of it in the future. Else you will take a loss by selling it

The stock MAY come back to some value. Chapter 11 is there to delay creditors and allow the company time to get its act together. If there is any money left after paying creditors, the shares will still have SOME value, but there is no way for me to predict this. It may be smart to sell at 11 cents and run, or it may be smart to hold on and wait until the smoke clears. At 11 cents a share, it does not make much difference does it? But I would notplay bankruptcy arbitrage unless I knew something that other people did not.

You can say good bye to your investment. Many investors were victims of these transactions (including me), when companies protect themselves from creditors and then come out as a new entity.

They received a 1.1 billion dollar bankruptcy loan to buy more time to make it through the holidays and hopefully restructure.

Their stock has been delisted from the New York Stock Exchange because it went bellow $1.00 for more than 30 days and is now being traded over the counter under the following symbol. CCTYQ at about .13 Cents A Share.

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=CCTYQ.PK

I have worked at both Best Buy and Circuit City. I hope Circuit City makes it. It would be a gamble but might be worth it to pick up their stock while it is so low.

Gary
They will work with their creditors and try to emerge out of bankruptcy. The stock that you have will eventually be canceled when (or if) new shares of Circuit City will be issued.

You will not receive any of the new stock because the bankruptcy court won't consider the investor a creditor. The new stock will be held mostly by Circuit City's creditors.

lookingforanswers
so would it be smart to buy CCTYQ and hope it goes up (.03 today)?
Also did owners of CC get any of this stock?
