Scottrade holds the certificate for you. that is part of the account set up papers that you did not read. don't worry about it. When you are ready to sell all you have to do is tell them to sell. the money should then be automatically deposited to a money market account. to get the money you have to request a check from the money market account.

you wont get the certificate but you can order and buy the certificate but then that does away with you buying and selling online,,, you will have to go to a broker to sell it,,,

dont... let scottrade hold the security...
if you lose it or it is stolen you'll have to pay about 5% of face to get a new one issued...

they're safe inside scottrade.
+you'll probably have to pay a printing fee to get em issued

Certificates are not issued. You will receive an acknowledgment of your purchase and an ongoing monthly report of your account activity.

I agree with the other answers. Scottrade will hold your certificates. Use their online web site for your trades. It's all very simple and they have always done a good job

good luck.

Most brokerages hold onto the certificate for you. This makes it easier to sell when you want to sell it. It also makes it harder to lose.

However, if you want to take physical possession of the certificates, you can instruct your broker to send them to you. I would advise against this.

Nowadays they are electronic, "held" by your Scottrade account.
