To become a successful investor one needs to get information and act on it ahead of the pack. One of the best publications is a newspaper, The Wall Street Journal. It really is not an investment guide pe se but it will help you understand news, trends and why things happen as they do. I'd start with this as the basis for all my reading and then add stock specific publications like Barron's. There are a number of good books that will provide the fundamentals. Stay away from anything that promises huge gains, riches, etc. These books simply prey on the ignorant by selling hope - kind of like the diet books that promise instant results without pain.
Finally, you can set up a dummy stock portfolio on Yahoo Finance capitalized with $100,000. You can test your ideas for free before you risk a lot of capital. |
