At 7% there is no guaranteed investment. But this bond fund currently yields over 7% interest.

Invest in a low cost index fund and sleep worry free. Divide your investment as

50% domestic index
40% international index
10% bond index

read the Intelligent Investor and pay close attention what it says about net current assets.

I've seen some CDs and savings accounts with 7%!

I think you automatically get 6% or 7% with Etrade if your money just sits in the account without trading!

7%?

So on $100k you're only going to make $7,000 a year?!

Diversity is the key.

Put some in to this.

9,000% in 10 months doing nothing.

In this crisis year, 1000% in 1 year automatically!

Go to vanguard.com and click on the Research Funds tab. It will lead you through some questions designed to fit the fund choices to you, your goals, personality, etc.

There are other no-load families of funds that are also good. I'm just more familiar with this one. Earning 7% over a period of time should be no problem.

You might want to look at their Star fund. It owns pieces of several other funds so it is well-diversified and has returned more than you are seeking over an extended period of time. It also isn't as volatile as some others.

There are a wide range of instruments that can do that for you. Consult a financial planner
