What is the best way to invest for beginners with a small sum of money?

Jack!
Index funds, usually better than mutual funds, since you don't need to select which MF to go for.

That's how I started out. Got a 50% ROI in 18 months, after investing 3 months savings of my pocket money ;-)

Purchase stock in a large company that offers purchase of stocks on a monthly basis (ie- Coke cola, Proctor & Gamble, McDonalds, ect). These, and other, large companies allow you to directly deposit a monthly sum (you choose the amount) to purchase stocks. Very much like a savings account. I would normally suggest mutual funds (either small cap or mid cap) but thier performance over the past few years, plus some major scandals involving after hours trading, have turned me, personally, from mutuals. Nonetheless, most mutual funds can be purchased in the same manor as the larger companies individual stocks are purchased. E-mail me if you want to hear more or have questions.

Sharebuilder.com & SoGoInvest.com

Both will invest tiny sums of money for you and charge minimal fees/commissions. SoGoInvest.com is the better deal, but its new.

Small sums of money can be turned into fortunes if you BUY penny stocks....IT is fun and can be done with friends as a game either buy doing real purchases or just on paper. I like reading about 'energy stocks' and have done quite well in buying and selling ..i am up over 400% in the past 5 years. No account will pay you that in a lifetime...war is good for the economy and now we are depleting our stocks we need to resupply..so munitions suppliers are excellent investment.....for all the information you need just go to GOOGLE and type in penny stocks/munitions..or penny stocks/energy..etc etc.....good luck ...see you on EASY STREET.
