What is the best website to go to buy stocks for the first time.?
Best meaning that you are not paying a lot to the broker like a discount brokerage place. Also places that have the smallest minimums. Also are there any stocks that look outstanding to you for quick growth soon?
You can go to Schwab.com (I'm not reimbursed for the plug.) Discount brokers have teaser rates which require many purchases in a year, which doesn't seem like your plans. I don't understand what you mean by "smallest minimums", in theory you can buy 1 share of stock, but you will still be hit by the brokers fee (with Schwab-12.99).
For quick growth stocks soon = consider JMBA, Jamba, which has a chain of yogurt-based drink shops in CA and NV and has room to expand elsewhere as well as pick up new products.

Try Etrade. They are not the cheapest but they are stable and very cheap. They are straight forward, easy to use and they have great customer service. They also have really good, free, research.
I've tried others but keep coming back to Etrade.
Don't try to find stocks that will have quick growth soon, buy a stock as if you were buying the whole company. Use Warren Buffetts approach and look at the underlying value of the company. Try to buy at a discount and plan to hold for the long term. If you have a short term windfall that's great but don't plan on it.
I recommend AKAMAI stock symbol (AKAM) for long term growth.

tsx.com a good choice, it's what we used in Business class at school to begin stock purchasing.
