In finance a share is a unit of account for various financial instruments including stocks, mutual funds, limited partnerships, and REIT's.
Whereas a mutual fund is a form of collective investment that pools money from many investors and invests the money in stocks, bonds, short-term money market instruments, and/or other securities.

I am guessing what you want to know is the difference between buying stock and mutual fund? In a nutshell, with a same amount of money:
- mutual fund gives you diversify your investment, such that risk of loss is reduced.
- stock gives you the focus investment, such that when there an increase in the value, your return will be higher (than mutal fund). However, the risk of loss will be higher.

tHE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SHARE AND MUTUAL FUND LIES IN THE MODE OF OWNERSHIP IN A COMPANY.tHE SHAREHOLDER BECOMES OWNER LIMITED TO THE EXTENT OF SHARES HELD BY HIM IN A PARTICULAR COMPANY.THE MUTUAL FUND HOLDER DOES NOT SPECIFICALLY OWN SHARES IN ANY PARTICULAR COMPANY,BUT HE LEAVES HIS MONEY AT THE DISPOSAL OF A TRUST,NAMELY A MUTUAL FUND WHO IS THE TRUSTEE AND OWNER OF THE FUND.hE IS ENTITLED ONLY FOR THE ALLOTMENT OF UNITS,WHOSE VALUE IS DETERMINED BY THE SUM TOTAL OF MONEY INVESTED BY THE FUND DIVIDED BY THE NUMBER OF INVESTORS.tHE SHAREHOLDER IS OWNER VIS A VIS THE COMPANY,WHEREAS THE MUTUALFUNDHOLDER IS ONLY AN INVESTOR IN THE FUND DESCRIBED ABOVE.

share is of a one particular company.
Mutual fund is created by investment co. while that company invests in a bunch of good performance companies' shares. You become a member of their shareholding.

Share is nothing but u will dealing the shares individually with direct payment for a particular share.

A mutual fund is a company that combines, or pools, investors' money and, generally, purchases stocks or bonds. Ideally, a fund's size and resultant efficiency, combined with experienced management, provide advantages for investors that include diversification, expert stock and bond selection, low costs, and convenience.

rkkbmx
A mutual fund is a pool of monies that buys "shares" of individual companies. Ownership of a mutual fund is denominated in "shares".
