the risk depends upon how the markets are
and i think nifty futures r for the particular month u have taken it
say if u have taken nifty futures for Sept
then i think its valid till Sept end only
but still confirm with a well known trader I'm Just a small trader
and the risk is same in both share mkts are risky..
whether its nifty or any other stock.
and i think the best person to and this would be ur broker and next time better be careful first get all the info n thn trade. |

u can buy a share and keep it for any number of years. for exaple i was allotted Tata steel shares in sixties and am still holding them, will sell if and when i feel like.
But in case of futures they have an expiry date. at any given time the future options are available for three months, ie right now u can buy/sell a future for AUG or SEP or OCT 2007. all futures expire on last thursday of that particular month. it has to be squared off latest by that date.
re risk playing futures is the most risky game if u dont take quick on the sport decisions. the markets go up and down and u stand to gain or lose a big amount like GMR INFRA shares, u can buy 100 shares but future is only for 1000 shares. so it is a big amount to risk if the price goes down u can hold the shares for a long time, but the future has to be cleared on the last date as mentioned above. |
