You're on the wrong track. Supply and demand have very little to do with day to day or month to month prices. Neither do company earnings, fundamentals, news, etc.

There's a lot of stuff you need to educate yourself on. See http://commonsensetrading . googlepages . com, where I've already answered this question.

Suppy and Demand

So Called Buying and Selling, apart from other factors.

More demand means more buying means price will go up.
More supply means more selling means price will go down.

This is just sin short, it is effected by news, economics, earnings, results. etc

Good question. You could say supply and demand (this could come from derivatives), but why is there sometimes more demand than supply and vice versa? Fear & greed? Sentiment? If the answer was known it there would be no market: Buyers & sellers make a market.

One reason why shares go up is the anticipation of earnings growth. This could be justified by a well run company in a growth sector in a strong economy. Or it could be a high tech company giving out a lot of hype.

Fear and greed of the investor

Two big drivers of stock prices are: 1) Earnings 2) Economic Data.

Earnings come out 4 times a year (quarterly) for every company, and economic data comes out monthly. These are probably the two biggest things driving stock prices.

it is all about -
sleep all the while and suddenly join marathon race - loosing game is sure. bet -- this race will have wide publicity, mania, crazy, what more. - the advertisers 2will earn money and not you and I.

If you want to earn money and fame - start practicing for years and join marathon race - you will have fame as well as prizes (money)

similarly during recession there is no one will be in the market - market is discounted - prices will be low - then enter into the market.

now is the exact time to enter into market. it is like post world war like time. There is USA as well as Global recession, sub-prime crisis, etc., etc.,

this is not end. Market has a cycle - it will revise very soon and fast - there is no permanent setback or boom in economy.

during bull run sell the stock and invest in debt (assured return and secured debt) - wait for bear run - it can happen either for entire market or for few stock - start investing again and gain.

do you want to be a wiser investor - study market cycle /history you are the winner in the MARATHON RACE.

best of luck

What makes the stock prices go up and down? You nailed it; Supply and Demand. Nothing else.

However, there are many reasons as to why there is a change in supply/demand. Generally speaking, greed and fear are the main causes for the change. For instance, investors think company ABC is going to come out with great earnings report and get greedy. On the flip side, when if they hear that the earning report was bad, they get fearful and dump the stock.

You have the right idea when you say you want to learn more. That is one of the smartest statements Ive seen on here. My advice to you is, if you can, get a mentor who is skilled at investing. They will be invaluable to you, I swear.

If you have any questions about how to get started and where to look, just email me or reply to this.
