Look at this graph of the last 80 years or so at tell me which way you think the market is headed, long-term:

Buddy, this is a cycle. In simple terms, ups are bound to have downs, which will be followed, by ups again. But the most difficult question is, when? Even experts dont have a clear answer as when can this uptrend start, once again. However, as far as stocks are considered, investing with a long term perspective is always better, as it gives a better returns, provided investment is on the right horse(s).
As Obama, put it, the climb is going to be steep, but we will get there. I guess a in the next couple of years, things will get stablized!

It always comes back, it goes in about 7 year cycles.. Buying season culminating in a big hype-> Crash -> unsure for a while -> start over..

There have been stock crashes for hundreds of years.. it just keeps on going, some people lose money, some people make some money..

I think It is only a Great Gambling Method of testing your luck and lacking some common sense and locking the liquidity or safe investments.

I Don`t feel understand which type of investment / Trade mode of this kind.

Whether Like Purchasing a Lotter ticket with guaranteed face value of Rs.10/- of Rs.100/- per share?. What the original guarantee from the companies on who`s fate and on the illogical thinking of the people trading on it.

For this whole of the world incl Prime Minister and Finance ministers bombard and say don`t worry your investments are safe? HOW. Please Answer.

The Bulls won't be running again on Wall Street until the spring of 2012. There is way too much over-leveraging and the fiscal woes are so complex we have a serious financial mess on our hands. Crash? No. Deep recession? Yes, I believe. Unlike other recessions, this one is global, which makes the problem more complex than complex. It's going to take a lot of global cooperation to wiggle out of this one. What the market thrives on is greed. Today there is only fear. Until greed returns with full gusto Wall Street will be in a slumber. No one is willing to take risk anymore given all the risk already taken a few years ago with credit default swaps and derivatives based on mortgage securities. Obama's alternate energy plan has potential, if it lives up to its billing of creating five million new jobs. That alone would fuel the economy with cash and that could get the ball rolling again. Right now there is still a credit freeze driven by fear. Once all of the toxic mortgages are counted we will know better where we stand financially. Right now some homeowners are still holding on to their homes. They need refinancing with realistic payments. Next year, 2009, should give us a better idea on how deep our fiscal crisis truly is. As of this year, it's horrible. Next year it might get worse, nevertheless there is hope it could get better. Not to the level we saw in the last few years by getting better, I mean we could see ourselves climbing out of the fiscal pit. The bulls, however, should be quiet for a while.

I'm pretty sure this economy is on it's last legs... there are good people making bad choices running this world into a gutter. U.S money was once backed by gold and silver, it is now backed by nothing which is known as Fiat Currency and it is controlled by an arguably unconstitutional organization (the federal reserve) but any time anyone tries to speak up and notify anyone of the mistakes we are making, the people being notified are so brainwashed by listening to their friends and family, media and their government that they instantly call that person who is warning them a "conspiracy theorist" which instantly labels them as insane, instead of first hearing them out and using logical rational debates and evidence.

What is more insane though, seeking truth by observing current situations, contrasting events, documents and information or simply following blindly and trusting like a cow about to be butchered?

I don't know, I think it's had it but maybe the world leaders will have some sort of unethical way to get us out of it which would be dandy. If not....

let the revolution begin.
