Buy stock in an oil company. They are robbing us blind at the gas pumps and turning record profits as a result. Get some of it back in stock dividends.

1st, investing in stocks, ira's, etc... is a very smart move. what you should invest in is entirely up to you. dont listen to your friends, or hot tips you overhear. research stocks. it sounds like your game investment was one based only on the release of a certain product. this can be good or bad. good if the game is a mega hit, bad if not.
short and long term investing is also something to consider. your age plays into this part. the younger you are the longer term you should think. safe bets are your large caps or major companies that have been around for awhile.
research is the key to any smart investment. there are many sites with stock info and rating info out there. dividends and nondividends are a factor to consider also. i own lots of stocks and many different companies not just one, diversification, another aid for investing. i own exxon/mobil, jp morgan chase, walmart, and microsoft to name a few. i might also add i have neve lost money with these in any year since investing in them. that doesn't mean i wont in the future.
invest its a smart thing for your future, but research and study a little.

You should design your portfolio in few liquid assets and few long term assets, buy some quality stocks, invest in bank deposits and enjoy the life...

if you are clueless you should not be buying stocks of any kind. Educate yourself first-lots of info on TV financial shows, Money Magazine, on the net. Oil company stocks react to the market and go down as well as up- when you buy any stock makes a difference in your profit. It you buy at the top of the wave you are too late. There is no safe get rich quick plan. Look at mutual funds as well- they all have very informative web sites.

Actually, depending on how much you have to invest, the finest investment you could get into right now is rental real estate properties. Properties are dirt cheap because all of the foreclosures, lots of people who are being foreclosed on need to live somewhere. Buy now, let the rental pay the mortgage, sell in 3-5 years when the mortgage fiasco heals and prices go up again. You realistically need $10,000 or more to get into it on your own. If you have less ($1000-$5000), you can get in as part of a small investment group.

My perception is that, with the mortgage problems going on now, climbing oil prices, the US elections coming up and other factors, stocks are going to have a rough ride the next 18 months. I've sold all my stocks and bonds and changed my real estate strategy from flipping homes to buy and rent.

The main thing, is look at the world and decide what you think is going to happen in the near-mid term. Where will the world be like in 12-24 months? Then once you decide that, invest so your money will take advantage of that now.

Hope this helps

i recommend APPLE (TINKER AAPL) because apple is steady and in the past 2 years it has over doubled its value
and they are coming out with new things, like different ipods, computers, and iphones. apple has beat its one year estimates over 3 to 4 times! go apple
