What was the reason for you to start investing?
And how old were you when you start investing?

To make money. And to have fun. I was 16 at the time. Over 45 years ago. It allowed me to retire at 55 and provided me with sufficient funds so that I can now go anywhere in the world for as long as I desire and look for birds. Next trip is Ecuador in less than a month.

The best reason is to make money and to protect what you have since inflation erodes the value of your money. I was in my early twenties when I began

harlanuu@sbcglobal.net
I wanted to make more money then I was making with my job. So, I started to invest. However, the brokers (8) that I had for the next 8 years made more money and I was loosing money. Then I got rid of the brokers and started my own investing without their help. Then I started to make good money. The problem is WHAT DO YOU INVEST IN? Why? Is this a good time to invest? Will it go higher in value?
If you can't answere these questions don't invest, you WILL loose your money. It took me 7 years to learn how to invest. That is what I am doing right this minute while I am writting this. I am watching a chart go up and down and when it starts to bend to the up side, then I will make a move and make a couple grand before the sun comes up.

I realized that it was the only way I was going to be able to acquire wealth and live comfotably. Trying to put money in a savings account won't do it.

I started really investing in stocks about 5 years ago. I was 50 years old then. I guess you could say my home was an investment too. I do swing stock trading. I found that I have better than a 50% chance of picking a stock to make profits on and my resulting gains are more than 4 times my losses. Better odds than playing at Vegas. Is it really gambling when you have an edge, when you can make heads come up 4 times more often than tails?

jadespider9643
investing is simply a form of gambling at any level, personally I hate gambling and I keep all my money in a federally insured credit union savings/checking account. that's about as low risk as it gets. (Much safer even than stuffing it all in your matress as cash)
