If that's all your savings, you might want to keep it liquid and available in case of emergency. An interest bearing checking or savings account would probably be the best you could do. Some banks are currently paying 4 to 5%. |

What currency is this? Since this is Indian part of yahoo, i guess it is Indian Rupees.
If it is INR, i would suggest you better spend those 1000 rupees. 1000 rupees cannot buy 2 people a good dinner in any metro these days. Whats the point in saving it? Because even if we assume it grows at 100% per year, it still will not be good for anything.
If you spend it, at least you know you enjoyed your earnings. :) |

Be careful with stocks and bonds. If you don't know what you are doing, you can lose $1000 real fast. Savings is not such an "investment" with the small interest rate (5% or less), after inflation and taxes your earnings are nothing. If you really want to invest ofr your future, look for something with returns of at least 30%. You can find this easily with real estate. |
