I'd buy property probably, something boring. If not, I'd blow it =)
Edit* Cafe- this depends on what you intend to be selling, if its luxury then no, if its basic food at a good price then possibly.
Nothing is a safe bet, recession or no recession. However, a cafe is a sensible idea and could be a success with hard work and dedication.
If you're in a good location, you're almost bound to get custom, even in a recession. However, to open a business in this economic climate, you have to be financially stable and be prepared to make a loss, especially in the first year or two. If I was you, I'd put the money in a high interest bank account, then see wait around 12 months to see if the economy is starting to pick up. It may not do but this way you could make a better prediction on when the recession is likely to end. Good luck if you do decide to set up a new business, its difficult but rewarding! =) |
