I would buy a good safe and as many gold bars as I could.

I've been using http://investingoldandsilver.com to buy gold lately and it's amazing. The price of gold has been going up since the dawn of man so it's the safest investment there is. You just buy gold at the current market value (see the graph on the site I linked to), and then sell it on ebay in a few months or years when the value has climbed to a price you're happy with.

The best thing about investing like this is that you get something real that you can see and feel. I'll never buy stocks again!

Pay off credit card and other high interest debt. Put $5000 in an IRA. Invest in your education. Buy a house if you intend to stay in the same place for ten years. Invest in stock and bond mutual funds.

1. Be very careful taking advice from strangers whose qualifications and motives can never be known.
2. Learn about "Asset Allocation" and Mutual Funds, read Mutual Funds For Dummies.
3. Use only "no load" "low fee" mutual funds. Use an Asset Allocation that fits you.... stick to it.

Good Mutual Fund companies include, but are not restricted to;
T Rowe Price
Vanguard
Dodge & Cox
Janus (in general, more aggressive than the above)
