Of course pay off my debt and my wife's student loans. I would also pay off the dept that my immediate family members have incurred so they can finally own their houses outright and not worry about mortgages. Save some for my son's future education. That's what I would do. |

I would forsure help everyone I know that is in need of some money. I would buy my sister a house for herself and my two nieces. I would go to the doctor and try to fix my health problems.
And to DANE...if we are such loosers, why are you here... |

I'd take 10% of it and donate it to various causes. I'd invest the rest of it. |

Truth be told I would buy a house ($600,000) I live in California house proces are C R A Z Y!!!
I would furnish my house ($100,000) that would cover indoor, and outdoor furnishings for my house.
I would buy a new car ($30,000) Dodge Magnum SRT8
I would put $70,000 in an account for my daughter.
And with the remaining $200,000 I would send my parents on a good vacation to celebrate their retierment, put a little money in the bank fo rmyself, pay off my credit card and any other debt, and go to the strip club!!!
I am sorry, but as a single dad, in debt, and living check to check I am the "people in need". |

I'd pay my brother's college tuition, give my parents' money, send my aunts in San Francisco money, give my new nephew and niece money, pay my hospital bill, get stacks of 100 dollar bills and hand some to the unfortunate people who sell whatever possible to get money in Chinatown, and throw the rest of the bills around my new 5th Ave, penthouse apartment in my lingerie while dancing to "Fergie - Fergalicious." |

Keep my job and put it in a bank with a high intrest rate for untouched funds.
Then, after a year, it would acrue enough intrest to live on, say between $65-$70,000.
After that, and paying off my own bills and taking care of my family and friends, the people who took care of me when I needed it, then I would start looking for those in need whom I could help out. |

I have everything I need. I wouldn't change my life style. I might buy a new couch and TV. I would make a trust for my grand children's college education. I would give to the food bank and the women's shelter. It's more fun to make someone else happy. I'm happy enough. |

First, I would pay off all my debt. Then, I would buy a home, a good car that'd last for a long time, put a chunk of money aside for my daughter's college education, finish mine, and donate part of what's left to NASA. |

If this is after taxes then I would invest in a large stable company who pays a good dividend, about 4 to 6%. Try to live off the dividends and hope my money grows.
Example if got this money last January and I was able to buy Bank of America (BAC) at 47.00 per share. I would have 21000 shares of BAC and 13000 dollars till the first dividend pay out in Mar.
Dividend pay outs so far would have been $32,760 plus the next pay out is in Dec. for $11,760 giving me 44,520 for the year, and the stock is now, (11/27/2006) worth $53.96 or 1.13 million.
In January I began with 1 million dollars, I would have been paid 44,520 for the year, or 21.40 an hour if I worked a 40 hour week, plus an increase in wealth of $130,000 dollars.
Its the holiday season and I would be able to cash some stocks and buy holiday gifts for family, friends, charity, and finally myself and I would still have the original 1 million I started with. Then next year it would start all over again. |

I would be greedy and keep it all to myself because I had parents who DIDN'T give me a dime and I am still paying off my student loans and old debts. |

I have a theory about people in need. That theory is that they are in need because they chose that way to live. Giving them money will not alter their state one iota in the long run. In a weeks time the money given them will most likely be gone and they will be in the same state they were in before hand.
I will grant you that not all persons in need fall into that category, but attempting to separate the wheat from the chaff, would be a task I would probably fail at.
My job is to provide for the well being of my family and that is the function the million dollars will serve by prudent investments. |

screw em,i would be greedy and turn it into 5 million through investments.I would buy the best health care money could buy and send the kids to private school and hire a chef to cook for us. |

Sure, I'd be nice and give it some people in need. I will certainly be hiring folks to help me make more money with that money. |

I would definitely subscribe to more than just basic cable and phone service and would no longer have to buy used computers.
I would buy a house for sure and ensure my mother is well cared for for the rest of her days.
I'd eat at the nearest Mandarin restaurant 2 or 3 times a week at least.
I'd probably take up gambling .. for amusement .. with strict limits ... of course.
I'd get any family member out of debt if the debt wasn't because of a drug addiction or alchohol ... or gambling .. lol .. and if so I'd sure offer to pay for their necessary treatment.
I can't say I'd be totally unselfish, as sometimes the worst thing you can do is think you can help someone. Sometimes people just aren't ready for the changes in behaviour or thought that keeps getting them in their situations and to toss them money to squander would be just irresponsible. |
