Okay, Grunt, listen up!
If you're " just starting" in the markets, it is not the time to look for a quick winner...if it goes bad you'll be broke or at least " turned sour" on trading/investing ( and that could be a big, big, life-changing mistake)
So, let's try to just MAKE some money first...and then as you go along, see how this or that works.. maybe later, you can try a few " moonshots"
For a little safer approach than " individual stocks" you can buy some ETF's... good sectors would be energy, emerging mkts, BRIC countries, alternative energy, agriculture...
Get some prices* on some of these..PBW, EEB, MOO, EEM,
EWZ, MXI, EWH, XES
They are anywhere from around $20. per share to about $80.
Pick about three...spread yourself out 15 or 20 shares here and there...watch and wait for six months...move something if you have to... BUT make some profit...and then THAT is what you " play" with.
Best of luck...stay safe..
* Run 'em all through " quote" box on yahoo/finance...check price and especially performance. |

the stock market has been down, I would be interested to see what others would answer. I think in the current climate, there isn't one stock that you could expect to perform like that. |

If peole knew the answer to that they wouldn't tell you they'd invest the money themselvs you simply have to research something watch the news ect if you think that a product will be good, popular and succesful invest if don't then research something else
Hope this helps good luck:-) |

Immucor: BLUD. They make blood testing equipment. They sell the testing machines, then the hospitals have to keep buying the testing reagents from them for each blood test. I've made a lot of money with this stock, and expect to make a lot more. |

Think for Myself
 |
I have a friend that is manages funds, but he suggested some of the financial intuitions that took a big hit with the sub-prime disaster like Morgan Stanley (MS) , CitiBank (C) and Bank of America (BAC). These should do well as they recover. If you are looking for a hot turn around, $2500 is a bit low for stocks. There are some great funds in South American and Southeast Asian markets. Here are tickers. DXZLX, FLATX, AACFX, FLTAX, FLNIX. I don't think you'll hit it in a few weeks, but in a year these should do very well. Try maybe 2 or 3 tops. I would watch them for a bit before you just jump in. I am convinced, even though I have done very well in funds, that investing is for the long-haul, say 3-5 years. Good luck. |

Your question reveals you're headed for trouble unless you're incredibly lucky.
Invest first in a few good books. |

sound like you are looking to make a 'trade' and not an 'investment', there are many stocks that go up lots everyday, but finding them is difficult, you have to pay attention to market news and see why views are changing in a particular day, for the most part, the only reason a stock moves big is due to a new announcement. Check out www.TheWallStreetHunter.com , they do a good job forecasting markets, and even provide active investor portfolios for people such as yourself... good luck... |
