many stocks trade for very low prices per share. Some are small fractions of a penny, eg .008 per share. I think most of these are called pink sheet stocks and are identified for example with the pk after the symbol... puhr.pk. Others have an .ob such as etlt.ob which trades for about .60

Penny Stock

A stock that sells for less than $1 per share but may also rise to as much as $10 per share as a result of heavy promotion. All penny stocks are traded over the counter (OTC) or on the pink sheets.

Investopedia Says: Penny stocks are highly speculative and risky. Many brokerages don't cover them simply because they are so difficult to track and predict.
