1. A credit card is a 30 day loan. If you can't pay off what you owe on a credit card within 30 days, you are living beyond your means.
2. Save 10%-15% of every paycheck.
3. Have 6 months to 1 year of expenses saved in an emergency account.
4. Start saving for the wedding before you meet the bride/groom because a year simply isn't enough time to save adequately for a wedding.
5. Teach your kids how to manage money while they are young so they know what to do when they go out on their own. Kids learn by doing so make sure they have actual money to "manage" -- spend, save, give -- on a weekly basis. |

When I was a young new stock broker, an old farmer in bib overalls came into my office. I went on about our company outlook for the economy and the stock market, elaborating about pe ratios, growth rates, etc. He looked at me and said " shucks, I don't understand none of that, I just buy em when they're down, and sell em when they're up." He showed me his portfolio of blue chip stocks, all good solid companies and he had a lot of money. I learned more from him that day than he did from me. |

"Read, read, read."
Information is the life blood of an investor. You can't make educated investment choices without the proper information, so read, watch financial programs, and keep up with current affairs. The better informed you are, the better investor you are. |

"A penny saved is a penny earned" Ben Franklin. Of course back when he said that a penny was worth about the equivalent of $5.00 today. Probably be $10.00 next year. |

Try proverbs 3:9 "Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the first fruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine" ... its a funny thing...the more you give away ..the more you seem to have. :) |
