Whats the difference between investors and traders?

Hmmm, I would say the amount of activity is a significant difference. Traders tend to buy and sell more often than investors and their time horizons are shorter. I feel that investors take a more long term approach. Neither approach is inherently better than the other but rather different profiles suit different approaches.

A specialist is a dealer representing a NYSE specialist firm - one of the main facilitators of trade on the exchange. A market maker is a broker-dealer who facilitates the trading of shares by posting bid and ask prices along with maintaining an inventory of shares. It is important to note that a specialist is a type of market maker. The NYSE has seven specialist firms while the Nasdaq has nearly 300 market makers. The NYSE is an auction-based market where traders meet on the floor of the exchange, using person-to-person, telephone orders or electronic orders. The Nasdaq, on the other hand, is strictly an electronic exchange.

The difference between a trader and an investor is more than just trading volume activity. And investor tends to buy in anticipation of the value increasing to sell at a later date for a profit. In other words, investors are "longs" or buyers. Traders have no direction bias, they don't care which direction the market is going. If the market is going up, they'll go long, if it's going down they'll go short. Investors tend to only invest when prices are going up.

I am a trader, I have no bias, I'll short or go long if I see a trade in those directions.

There is no absolute difference. However traders like to trade a lot. They hold a stock for a short period, then sell it and buy another one. Investors tend to like to buy stocks and hold them for long periods of time. See the link.
