Selecting "Save" will keep the document, picture, etc. in it's existing form. What you see is what you will get.
Once you alter that document, such as adding/changing text, or cropping a picture, if choose the "Save As" option you will then be able to rename the changed document and your changes will be saved. You are also able to select in which folder or location you want to place the new file.
Additionally, you will still have a copy of the document in it's original form and location.
This is especially useful if you use the original document numerous times, but need to make minor modifications each time you use it, such as in preparing a rental lease, were you need to add the name of each new renter to a particular apartment unit.
These type of documents are commonly referred to as "Master" documents, or Master Files.

"save" lets you make changes to a file that you are working with, and updates the changes every so often. "SaveAs" lets you change the name of the file, or change the location of the file, like if you wanted a file moved from your hard disk to your floppy disk, you have to change the drive prefix and the computer will make a copy of your file on the floppy.

when you click "save" it saves it as the most recent thing you saved it as. When you click "save as" you can rename the file and save it elsewhere

save resaves the file to whatever you last saved it as, save as lets u save as something else (or the same thing again)

tscgmc
Save as allows you to rename the file and save it to a new file......if you use Save it will just save it to the file you opened. Hope this helps.

shouldn't this be in the computer category?

save means it save to the same file automatically.
save as means you can save the file into a new file with different name.

Nathan
save - current file gets updated with the same name
save as - new file with the same contents which can be renamed (if you want to)

Lifeseeker
save will save your work in the documents while save as will save on your specific folder or location you can also rename it.
