I'm a Canadian with US funds. I don't know if I should leave it alone and wait cause it will eventually pick up or if I should change everything back into Canadian and get at least some resonable interest. Your prefered rate has come down 3 times in 3 months, I am not making any money on my US funds anymore.

It may be awhile. Like ....the rest of this year at least. The Mortgage meltdown is dragging down the economy. With so many houses being foreclosed and on the market with the prices down then new construction will be down too. That means fewer people in construction and the related jobs.
At the same time the price of oil continues to rise because it is traded in US dollars. A weak dollar means that those countries that have oil want more dollars to make up for their dollars that are not buying as much as they used to.
The price of wheat and corn are up because more corn is being used to make ethanol and not for food. Less wheat is being planted because corn is now a hot seller. Less corn and wheat means higher food prices. Higher gas prices mean higher cost to transport the food.
Put it all together and the next President will have some challenges.
Invest in Canadian Dollars or Euros. |

State Budget deficits
Home mortgage debts
Credit card debts
Federal Social Security payments
Trade Deficit (how else is China getting their hands on billions of US dollars?)
Total federal debt (which is currently more than the total money supply, although half of the debt is owed to the social security trust fund.)
Think about this: If we tried to back the US dollar with all the gold in Fort Knox and the Federal Reserve Vault in New York, we would need to set the exchange rate at $22,000/oz in order for all the gold to account for all the dollars.

Gold in Fort Knox: 5,000 tons (147M oz.)
Gold in New York: 5,200 tons (155M oz.) |

When Eurozone starts to lower its interest rate, then I think US dollar will stop sinking. Eurozone will start lowering rate when its economy starts to sink like US. |
