I am planning to change my name due to professional reasons. I am an Asian decent and need to have a western name. You know what they say...when in Rome...etc. Anyways, I like the name Evan but working in the Financial Industry, I fear that the name Evan sound too boyish, do you think?
So I am thinking about the name Howard. Is it a good name? I'm 24 years old and plan to use this name to the end. Image a fifty-year-old man sitting behind a desk giving you advice on how to invest. Would such a name Howard match such a man? Is Howard a good choice?

I would not choose Howard. To me it sounds weak and does not inspire confidence. My immediate response to the name Howard is to think of Howard Johnson which is a moderate priced chain of motels which have seen better days.
some names that would inspire confidence ad are associated with investment firms are Morgan, Chase, Dean, William, Adam, Franklin, Edward, Forbes, etc. |

Wow. This is kind of a tough one because two things immediately popped into my mind- Howard Johnson Hotels and Howard Sprague- the County Clerk on the Andy Griffith show.
In any case, Howard is definitely not a good name for you to choose. I recommend either Joseph (if you're from an East Asian country) or Thomas (if you're from India or one of its surrounding countries). Stay away from Ralph (although Rafael is okay), Otis, Elmer, Barney and Skip.
Whatever you do, you should choose a name that is believable. If you decide on something other than Howard, ask again and we'll let you know if it's believable. |

I think Howard is not modern enough of a name. It is ok, but if you are planning on having it for a long time, do a bit more research. Maybe Mike, Eric, Kevin

Howard's a good name...if you are the geeky, live-with-your-mom-til'-you're-forty type. Sorry, that's what I think of when I hear the name "Howard".
