Check out the websites of common discount brokerages-www.etrade.com, www.schwab.com, and www.scottrade.com, and www.tdameritrade.com.

If you are looking for more of an advisory firm, look to sites like www.ml.com, www.ms.com, or www.ubs.com. These offer more diverse services, like insurance and financial advice. They also are more expensive. It all depends on what you want.

All brokers offer different services, so its a good idea to just do a search on yahoo or google and shop around. Good luck.

Im gonna make this really easy for you..

http://finance.yahoo.com/ - use this to research companies

http://www.scottrade.com/ - online broker (cheapest, easy)

But, you guys need to get educated. If you guys start buying stocks based on assumptions, you'll get torn apart. I recommend reading my blog. I just started writing articles for people just like you (beginners). My blog is dedicated to educated people interested in learning about the stock market. I suggest reading my first article "I want to start investing!.. Where do I start?". You can find a link to my blog by clicking on my profile (Located next to 'About Me') or you can enter manually.

thergireport . blogspot . com - I can't put the actual link, because it is frowned upon by yahoo.

Good luck and give my blog a read. Education is the most important part!

My answer is a little different than the others.

My advice is that you stay away from stocks.

Investing in specific stocks is risky. It's should be done with a long-term plan in mind (10 - 20 years). You need to have a financial plan.

If you want to invest your savings, call Vanguard and invest in an "Index Fund".

You simply need to pick the broker that best fits your needs. However, before you go investing in "individual" stocks you honestly need to understand how the markets work.

Also before you go jumping into "individual" stocks take a look at vanguard.com and mutual funds, index funds, and ETFs. This is a much safer way for a beginner to start.

There are many ways and many places.
A reliable stock brokerage service is probably best. There are many companies providing different levels of service and cost. This includes companies like UBS, Bear Strearns, Merrill Lynch, Edward Jones, Etrade, Charles Schwab, Ameritrade... the list is endless. Banks usually have an investment arm, too.

Open an account, tell them what you want to buy... bingo.

I'd suggest you look on line at the websites for on line brokers to learn more. They all have a good amount of information and "how to" sections.

My personal preference is for Charles Schwab (I've had good experiences with them).

Good luck.

Step one is to select a stockbroker through wich you will buy stocks from. I personaly would suggest http://sogoinvest.com or http://scottrade.com .Sogoinvest are great for their price of $3 per trade and scottrade are great for their $7 trades. Different companies offer different trade amounts and promotions so check them out and pick the best one. you can choose from many if you google "stock broker".
Second step is research and a lot of it. I personaly like small cap stocks for their potential to double or even triple in a short period of time.
Most of these stocks are based in the $1- $5 range with massive volume to trade at will, just remember to do your research and you will see great returns.
I have been using http://goldenbullpicks.com check them out you will be impressed!
