Your library is a good place to begin. They should have several books for beginning investors. "investing for Dummies" is a good beginners book. If your library does not have it, your book store will or Amazon. Under $20.

Sharebuilder.com or scottrade.com, I use both of these. I like scottrade better because it allows you to trade all stocks including the cheaper pink sheets stocks or what some people call penny stocks. Sharebuilder does not let you trade in the less expensive stocks.
