Where to invest for better return?

Investing tends to only get exciting when you make money quickly or you see the end result of a good investment over a fairly long period of time 15 - 20 years or longer.

The more risk we are prepared to take, the more we can expect to make. That is why the stock market will generally return more than a savings account.

To be successful you will need patience, discipline, and wisdom. But most importantly you need a plan and you need to define your goals.

It may prove expensive to acquire that much needed wisdom on your own. Learn by other peoples mistakes. Learn from other peoples successes.

Read some books. Visit your local book store and find a book that you like and feel comfortable with. Some of the titles I have on my bookshelf include:
One Up on Wall Street by Peter Lynch
How to make money in Stocks by William J. O’Neil (Founder of Investor’s Business Daily)
The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas J Stanley and William D Danco

Check out web sites like fool.com and yahoo finance.
Investigate trading strategies with a proven track record over 3, 5, 10, and 15 years.

Pick something that you understand, find easy to use and will help you realise your goals. A strategy where you can take responsibility for your investments and be in full control of your capital.

Systems like the Stocks Monthly system are definitely worth investigating once you are up to speed with the nuts and bolts of investing.

Hi Anand,
There is no clearcut answer to this question. It will depend a lot on your situation. What is the time-span for your investment? Will you need to withdraw money during the tenure of your investment? Think over it, and then decide accordingly.
If your time horizon is long-term, say 2-3 years or more, you will earn more return on equity shares or equity-oriented mutual funds. If you want safe investments, then you can go for debt-oriented mutual funds.
For short-term returns, I would suggest investing in bank FDs.

invest in land adn you will be getting good returns

GS
Choose a good Mutual fund and start a SIP in that.

I can suggest the following:

Reliance Mutual fund
SBI Mutual fund
HSBC Mutual fund
ICICI Mutual fund

Higher returns require higher risk tolerance. If you're willing to lose it all, you can try for higher returns.

Hedge funds and junk bonds would probably give you higher returns.

Dont you think it is better to go for safer returns rather than speculative returns? If any one is offering more than the government offers, there has to be some risk element. Be satisfied with what you get from government bonds because they are the safest

There's an old saying - Do not put all your eggs in the same basket. So there is no one better returns investment.
You should invest based on your age and risk profile in a whole variety of investment options - stocks, bluechip funds, gold, FD's and insurance related products to cover pure-term risks.

if you don't where to invest, you can do courses or buy the books. remember : higher return = higher risk, so i think it's would be better if you are looking for better return/risk ratio , instead of just better return.
