Define what is your long term. (5 years or 20 years). All asset classes mentioned by you have a cycle of out performance and under performance.. You should be savvy enough to invest in the right asset class when it is outperforming others.

Gold - outperforms when inflation is high.
Stocks outperform when economy is bouyant.
Real estate outperforms when the other asset classes are underperforming.
FDs outperform when the economy is at its worst and starts improving.

If your long term is something like 100 years, then stocks outperform others.

definetly its going to be Share market for eg if u have invested Rs 10000 in Bluechip company like Infosys in 1990's ur money would be Rs 10 lakh in todays market rate .
Since ur beting on Indian economy while investing in these Private companies which is going to be a real boom in coming years.share market is also kown as a wealth creator and its has liquidity too than an other Instruments.

Gold!!

I like the real GOLD nuggets.

As most gold is mined as very fine dust and tiny nuggets, the larger (over 1oz) nuggets are very rare! Actually they are as rare as large diamonds!

I would suggest you look into large nuggets!

To see the 'live' spot NY gold price and some museum size gold nuggets I suggest you visit a great site I found a few months ago. I purchase a few nuggets from them just about a month ago, and not only are they beautiful to look at but in just the last few weeks they have really moved up in value!

I'm actually saving to purchase others!

The site is: http://www.california-gold-rush-miner.us

Their museum nuggets are at:

The most expensive gold is called Crystalline gold. Some great photos of it can be viewed at:

i say gold because it is the rarest. all of the gold in the world would fit inside a tennis court 23 feet high. thats all there is. a piece of gold is easily stole so you run a higher risk of it being taken

I think it is gold. Look at it this way. Gold has been the only asset that has been appreciating for thousands of years. Real estate is good too, but you never know how your investment will be in next 50 years. The real long term is Gold.
