Which makes more money a year, a Stock Broker or a Doctor??
Which job has the higher average earnings a Stock Broker or a Doctor.

Not including surgeon

sothere!
According to the 2000 US Census, the median earnings for a physician is approximately $124,000 while that of a "personal financial advisor" (prob closest to stock broker) is about $54,000.

However, I would suspect that broker earnings has a higher variance. There are a lot of brokers out there who dont make a lot of money. A very successful stock broker can make boatloads of money. A lousy one wont make much at all. Plus it takes time to build a business as a stock broker, etc. On the other hand, all physicians can generate high earnings (assuming a physician chooses to maximize their earnings instead of doing charity work or similar.)

So to answer your question, on average it appears physicians make more money. Like I said though, a good stock broker makes a lot of money--more than a lot of doctors do.

A doctor would make more, but they don't know what to do with their money. Most doctors make $200,000 or more per year and still don't know how to manage their money properly.

I would definitely guess a Doctor. Stock Brokers work off commissions, they have good times and bad times.

Doctors on average, and certainly as an aggregate. There are certainly a lot more doctors than there are stock brokers, so by default you have a better chance of becoming a successful doctor, and as far as I know, computers can't cure cancer, stich some one up, or prescribe medicines...

In a global market like today, it is hard to tell, but one thing for sure, doctors make a definite amount of money a year. Stock Broker makes commision only, so it depends on the market ultimately.

depends on the broker
some brokers are making less than 50G/yr , some might make over a million

stockbroker make about $500,000 by default or they are forced out by company

generally bring in $10,000,000 at 5% commission = minimum acceptable performance

money is they only medium of success for stockbrokers

doctors have other valuations of success

Tyrus
Be a doctor. Most stock brokers don't cut it because the competition is so cut throat and th profession so unethical to their clients

Stockbroker. Unless by doctor you mean surgeon, consultant etc.
Stupid question really, a stockbroker could be earning £40k per annum or £200k a month.
Look at the commission of 1.85% (let's say the broker shares 50/50 with his firm.) A deal takes a matter of minutes to execute. This one deal could range from £5000-£1m or whatever. OK so on that size the comm might only be about 0.6% but one client could deal several times a day/ week. Theoretically there is no limit to the amount of money he could make. If the broker got overstreched (haha) he could employ an assistant or two for £30k each a year. I don't know much about doctors, but say a plastic surgeon, no doubt a few top ones earn a good living, but what about a GP?
Put it this way, you don't have to do a lot of work to earn a good living as a stockbroker. You cant gross less than £100000 as the company wouldn't want you!

I Would Have To Say A Doctor :D

A stock broker is paid on commission. A doctor is on salary. So I would say a doctor.
