At the basic level, "Investing For Dummies" is a great starter. Then, there are "Dummies" series books specifically on stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs and other investments.

"The Four Pillars of Investing" is a great book about investing. It is a good jumping off point with references to many of the classic papers on Modern Portfolio Theory. It is in quite a few libraries. Avoid books like ~Little Book of ...~ and ~How to Make Big Money ....~.

I don't think your going to find "the book" thats going to tell you everything. try a real stock trading site SocieteCaribe.com, they cover small caps, but, the knowledge you will gain can be translated to bigger stocks, plus you can ask questions.
