Who gives the best advice when picking stocks?
With the thousands of expert crystal ball experts out there, what website, magazine columnists, or whatever, gives the best advice when it comes to picking stocks. Basically, who's the Oprah Winfrey of the financial markets - when this person makes their picks, the people who invest make good money.
I read Fortune, Forbes, Inc, Smart Money, Business Week, and many others, but would love to explore others to see who picks the best. Thanks in advance.

Try Value line, and also take a look at investment advice blogs on the net. Some of the blogs are very informative and if you find a good one it can dramatically increase your ability to generate new invesment ideas. I am focused on the Canadian Equity markets because of the commodities boom going on there so I look at: http://www.investcanada.blogspot.com However, there are many other good ones out there.

You do. Never depend on other "experts."

First of all your reading good resources. Most of the magazines you are reading concentrate on fundamental for their stock picks. It would benefit you to have a little bit of knowledge on technical analysis to factor into your decision making.

As one of the other postings noted - you are the best person to make the best stock picks. After compiling all of your research it's up to you to filter that knowledge and make good choices.

I would also recommend using "stops" when you buy stock. If you can minimize your losses on picks that don't go your way you will do well.

Hope this helps.

Consider if all these tipsters & authors were so good why dont they keep it quiet & just do it.....the answer is there are no sure fire ways of picking stocks, my free advice is stick to what you know & understand yourself, trust no one but yourself to make judgements be contrary go against the crowd, dont follow tipsters by the time the story has got round you have missed it. Learn to read balance sheets & do your own research............most gamblers will lose money in the long term & you may do better letting a fund manager pick a spread of stocks in a unit trust or my preference an investment trust.
