Nobody. Its like buying a new car. As soon and the tires cross the curb of the dealership your $30,000 car is now worth $25,000. The car changing from new to used devauled it.
The stock market is the same. You buy equity in a company because you expect a certain rate of return through dividends or appreciation in the future. Something happens to the company that lowers those future expectations therefore the value of holding that equity goes down as well. |

I once sold my bike to a friend. The bike cost me $75 and I sold it to him for $50 (It was well used).
Who made the $25 that I lost? NOBODY!
The loss on stocks is the same. Sure my friend could have held on to the bike for a while and then sold it for a profit but that doesn't change the original "loss" into someone else's profit. |
