They are trying to cheat you.Like what newspapers report about people receiving emails from people claiming to be president of banks in africa.Just delete this email off and block the email address so it can never reaches you.Execise caution when opening this mails, some might put viruses in it.Alway reports to the local authorities and NEVER send money to them!

How does a fraudster go about getting personal data of people? On the internet "identity theft" is common.

There are numerous internet scams from people claiming to be senior bank officers in African banks and representatives/fiduciary agents of lotteries. Many of these email letters want the recipient to provide personal information (name, passport number, tel/fax, bank account number etc) in order to get the fictitious fund from banks or prize money from lotteries - the banks and the type of lottery may be real but these emails are clearly scam mails - "phishing" for personal data.

Normally these scammers get email addresses of people who log on to adult content websites; spywares would then be activated whereby info can be retrieved.

Most of these emails come from Africa - Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast et al; and from the UK. It would be best to report scam mail (address below) and never ever give out any personal information. Be advised also that banks do not send email to customers nor do lottery boards.

Copy scam mails and send to: scams@fraudwatchinternational.com

It's an old scam. Steer clear and delete. If you keep getting the messages, you can report them to the FBI (in the U.S.)... one certain thing is that the person doesn't work for a bank. But they do want your money.

foward the e-mail with putting word 'abuse' in front of the @xxxx.com or else..

i.e abuse@aim.com

its spam....dont reply it..mark it with spam if you use yahoo e.mail... it will block the address if 'they' try to send it to you again!!

This is just another flavor of an old scam. Just delete the messages. At one time the Secret Service was investigating these, but they stopped due to overload and insufficient manpower and resources.
